THE FAVOR OF GOD MINISTRY/THE HOPE CHURCH

21 DAY FAST

We never ask God if we should pray, we never ask God if we should give, nor do we ask God if

we should go to church, so why do we feel it necessary to ask God if we should fast. We know

that praying, giving, serving, and attending church is expected, it is par for the course for life

(the good life) in God. But when it comes to fasting, many like to get super spiritual, and

unnecessarily deep, by wanting to ask God if they should fast. There's nothing impressive, and

more importantly, there is no biblical basis for this. On the contrary, the fast is not something

you asked God if you could do, the fast is done in order to ask God about everything or anything

else. In other words, we fast to fine tune our hearing and discernment for the things we are not

sure we are hearing clearly about through prayer, reading the Word, or in sought counsel. So we

combine all of these with the fast, not because it's a good idea, but because it's a God idea. -

Jentezen Franklin

God created fasting a means to knowing Him better, hearing Him more clearly, praying more

fervently, understanding His Word more deeply, living more powerfully, and gaining freedom

from strongholds more assuredly.

A

biblical definition of fasting – voluntarily refraining from food

and drink at a time and for a time, for spiritual purpose and to give our

full attention to a particular matter.

It must be accompanied with sincere prayer to be effective in drawing close

to God. Follow the J.O.Y. method of structured prayer during your fast- days

1-7:pray for your relationship & growth in J- Jesus, days 8-14- pray for -Others,

days 15-21: pray for - Yourself, what are seeking regarding You!

THE REWARD OF FASTING!

There is a reward: Matthew 6:1-18 ,don’t lose your reward trying to seem deep and spiritual, or

to be seen by men!

Matthew 6:16–18 (NIV84)

16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their

faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward

in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it

will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is

unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

During this 21 day fast, you choose 1 of 3 options:

water (6 glasses min), broth, & 100% juice varieties. No fruit "drinks" ,

juice cocktails, or smoothies. Look for the label "100% Juice"

Option 3: Combination of both options 1 & 2

you may chose to divide your 21 day fast in a certain amount of purely juice

days added to purely Daniel days. For example, some start the 21 days with a

3-7 day period of the Juice Fast in order to launch their fast. Others have split

the days in half, and yet others may split their weeks: 3 days juice/4 days

Daniel.

There is no set formula or perfect combination. Seek God before the fast starts,

and then follow what you hear He is calling you to do. Just stick to that plan

throughout, don't adjust because you want to cheat or switch to fit the situation

or circumstances.

Remember, this is a spiritual journey, not a diet.

Please consult your doctor before starting any fast, especially if you have

concerns, questions, or are taking any medications.
